Eduardo Patrial is an expert Brazilian birding guide who has seen over 1000 species within Brazil to date. He has an excellent knowledge of the birding locales in southeastern and central Brazil. Eduardo's skill at finding and identifying bird species by field marks and vocalizations has made him one of the most requested guides for tours to the SE Atlantic Forest region, southeastern and central Brazil, and the eastern Amazon. He speaks nearly perfect English and his outgoing personality makes every tour he leads enjoyable for all. Eduardo is from the town of Londrina, Parana State, in southeastern Brazil. He started his ornithological and birding career while earning a university biology degree. He studied at the Capao da Imbuia Natural History Museum for two years, working with the most representative avian collection in the state and one of the biggest in southern Brazil. At first his field efforts were concentrated on banding birds and inventorying bird populations mainly in the SE Atlantic Forest region. His skill improved by participating on several research projects with expert ornithologists in different biomes, such as Cerrado, the Pantanal, Araucaria Forest, Southern Natural Grasslands, and several localities in the SE Atlantic Forest region. In 2005 he worked as resident ornithologist for Vale do Rio Doce mining company at Serra dos Carajas in the eastern Amazon. There he reported several important new bird records for that region. He began his career as a professional guide after working as a volunteer at Cristalino Jungle Lodge in the southeastern Amazon. Since then he has been guiding numerous tours in southeastern and central Brazil as well as the eastern Amazon for several prominent birding tour companies. He currently works as head guide at Volta Velha Reserve in southeastern Brazil when he's not guiding tours.
