ABOUT THE BIRDING

Kitale is an agricultural town with population about 250,000 in western Kenya. Birding is primarily in the countryside, which is predominately agricultural with scattered villages and small towns. The town serves as a convenient base for excursions to visit Saiwa Swamp National Park and Kongelai Escarpment to the north and the Busia Grassland to the west.
