ABOUT MADAGASCAR PHOTOGRAPHY

Bird photography in Madagascar is quite good, especially because of the high diversity of endemic species found nowhere else. Some species are secretive of course, and photography in rainforests can always be a little challenging. However, the opportunities for photographing mammals is not to be missed. The numerous species of lemurs and other special mammals offer photo opportunities like nowhere else in the world. For those with broader interests, opportunities to photograph endemic geckos, chameleons, and even insects are quite spectacular.

WHEN TO VISIT MADAGASCAR

The best time to visit Madagascar on birding tours is late September-December when it is breeding season. January-March are rainier months in typical years, which is good for viewing amphibians and reptiles but not so good for birding. The hottest months are November-April during the rainy season. The cooler dry season is May-October.
