HOTEL FAZENDA MATO GROSSO

Hotel Fazenda Mato Grosso is located 12km from the Marechal Rondon International Airport in Cuiaba. POUSADA DO PARQUE

Pousada do Parque is located on the border of Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park and features wooded grounds around the lodge. Trails on the property offer some good birding while not in the national park. The lodge features seated garden area, swimming pool, sauna, a lounge with fireplace, and a restaurant/bar specializing in Brazilian cuisine. Eight pleasant apartments offer double beds, private en suite bath, and hot water showers.

CRISTOLINO JUNGLE LODGE

Cristolino Jungle Lodge is located along the Rio Cristolino in the southern Amazon Basin. It is reached by boat transfer from Alta Floresta and is the best base for birding in the southern Amazon. The lodge handles boat trips on the river and tributaries and provides guide services as well as accommodations. The dining room serves Brazilian cuisine featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, and various meats. Meals are served buffet style. The lodge has full bar services in addition to the restaurant. Standard rooms are in feature 2-3 comfortable beds, private bath, and ceiling fan with four rooms per building. Also available for higher price are separate bungalows, each with two beds, spacious private bath with hot water shower, ceiling fan, wi-fi access, and a veranda with hammock.

Pousada Piuval is located near the beginning of the Transpantaneira Highway south of Pocone in the Pantanal. The lodge is a working cattle ranch that is widely known for its superb birding. The hotel restaurant features freshly prepared Brazilian cuisine. Rooms are nicely appointed and feature king beds, private bath, air conditioning, wi-fi access, TV, and safe box.

SOUTHWILD PANTANAL LODGE

SouthWild Pantanal Lodge is a working cattle ranch that has set up hotel facilities for birders and other visitors to the Pantanal. Its goal is to provide comfort without losing the rustic quality of the ranch. The hotel building is surrounded by verandas lined with rocking chairs and hammocks, allowing a place for guests to relax outside. The restaurant features typical foods of the Pantanal, including garden-fresh vegetables, dairy products, meat dishes, and piranha soup.

Rooms are clean and basic. They feature two double beds, bathrooms with hot-water showers, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. All rooms have windows looking out over the ranchland and nearby river.

 

POUSADA PORTO JOFRE

Pousada Porto Jofre is located on the Cuiaba River and is the base for boat trips on the river seeking out jaguars. POUSADA RIO CLARO

Pousada Rio Claro is located on the Rio Claro River 42km south of Pocone in the northern Pantanal. The pousada is on a working cattle ranch. A nearby large lake and forest offer good birding for its guests, as does the entrance area to the lodge. The restaurant offers Brazilian cuisine served buffet style. Rooms are comfortably furnished and feature double beds, private bath with hot water showers, and air conditioning.
