Room at Copalinga Lodge near Podocarpus National Park in southeastern Ecuador - © Laura L Fellows and Exotic Birding toursCopalinga Lodge is a new ecolodge located near the Bombuscaro entrance to Podocarpus National Park. Feeders, flowering trees near the lodge, and open gardens and stands of trees offer some excellent birding opportunities right on the premises. The lodge is situated in a peaceful and secluded area a few miles outside the nearby town of Zamora. The facilities are fairly basic but comfortable. The entire lodge operates on a generator, so electricity is unavailable overnight. Meals are served in a dining area and feature wonderful home-made meals with fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken, and beef. Portions were ample and the quality was excellent. Accommodations are in separate wooden cabinas. Rooms are large, comfortable, and well-ventilated. They feature twin or queen-sized beds and private bath with hot-water showers.
